Fast, Powerful and Proven
The DNA Sibling Test determines the likelihood that alleged siblings are full siblings, half siblings, or not related at all. The full genetic report is included with every test.
Usage: The DNA Sibling Test is used in situations where the alleged parent(s) are not available for testing. The DNA Sibling Test provides the likelihood that alleged siblings are full siblings, half siblings, or not related at all. Whenever the parent(s) in question are available for testing, the DNA paternity or maternity test is recommended over the DNA sibling test. However, in situations where the alleged parents are missing or deceased, then the sibling test is the next best option for investigating the relationship of potential siblings.
Benefits:
- All DNA Sibling tests are conducted using a premium 16 to 27 genetic marker system
- State-of-the-Art Accredited testing laboratory utilizing advanced robotics and analyzers
- Useful for situations where no other relationship type can be taken
- Check the progress of your DNA Sibling test online
- Results in 3 to 5 business days as soon as the samples are received
- Choose to receive your DNA Sibling test results report rapidly by email and/or mail
- Discreet
- Easy and painless sample collection using buccal (mouth) swabs
Turnaround Time: DNA Sibling Test is completed 3 to 5 business days after the samples arrive at the laboratory. Results are released immediately once the testing is completed.
Age: There are no age limitations for taking the DNA Sibling Test. The test can be performed quickly and easily at any age, including newborns.
Description: During a DNA Sibling Test, a buccal swab (mouth swab) specimen is collected from the alleged siblings. The sample which is collected contains cells, and most of the cells in our body contain a full set of genetic information in the form of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). A person's DNA represents a "genetic blueprint" and like a fingerprint, is unique to each individual. At the laboratory, the DNA is extracted from the cell and specific regions of the DNA are amplified by a process known as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) for careful examination. The DNA pattern of the siblings are compared to each other. A statistical analysis is performed based on the match type typically expected for true biologically related sibling pairs, and a "full sibling index" and "half sibling index" are obtained.
True biologically related full sibling pairs (same father and mother) are typically expected to have a full sibling index value that is greater than 1.0 in their DNA Sibling Test Report. Individuals who are not full siblings are expected to have a full sibling index value that is less than 1.0.
True biologically related half sibling pairs (only one parent in common) are typically expected to have a half sibling index value that is greater than 1.0 in their DNA Sibling Test Report. Individuals who are not related are expected to have a half sibling index value that is less than 1.0.
The greater the sibling index value over 1.0, the higher the likelihood that the two individuals are biologically related as siblings. Likewise, the lower the sibling index value is below 1.0, the lesser the likelihood that the two individuals are biologically related as siblings.
Can the kit be shipped to more than one address if the parties live in different cities? If the individuals to be tested live in different cities, or even different countries, we can split the kit and send each component to a different address. Since the kits are individually barcoded, the samples will still be tested together even if the are sent back separately. To order a split kit, please write the following into the comments box of the online order form: "Please split kit". Please also indicate the name, relationship and address to send each component. For example, please state: "send the first Sibling's portion of the kit to... (specify one of the Siblings's name and address)" and "send the second Sibling's portion of the kit to... (specify the other Siblings's name and address)".
100% Private and Confidential: The DNA Sibling test is 100% private and confidential. The testing kit arrives in a plain, unmarked package. The samples are collected discreetly in the privacy of your own home and send back to the laboratory for testing. Your results arrive directly to you by mail or email to maintain 100% privacy.
How long does the DNA Sibling Test take? Results are available in 3 to 5 business days once our laboratory receives the samples from all parties involved in the test.
How will I receive my DNA Sibling test results? You can choose to receive your DNA Sibling test results by email, mail or both. If you choose the email option, you will receive your test results by email instantly once the test is completed.
How do I proceed with DNA Sibling testing? To proceed with DNA Sibling testing, select the test option from the order list above. A private kit will be sent to you immediately for sample collection.
