What type of DNA test do I need?
We offer two types of DNA tests: Private and Legal. Find out the best option for you below:
Private DNA Tests
This type of test will allow you to find out the truth about the paternity relationship for your PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE before making any other decision. If you require the private test, the laboratory will send a sample collection kit to you by mail. You will collect the DNA samples by following an easy-to-read instruction sheet included in the kit, then you must send said samples back to the laboratory to be analyzed in the envelope provided in the kit.

Legal DNA Tests
This type of test is performed when the person wishes to attend one of our locations for sample collection. We have more than 83 locations throughout the country. If you require the legal test, the appointment department will contact you to arrange the time and place of your appointment at one of our closest locations.

The DNA Cousin test determines the likelihood that two individuals are biologically related as first cousins. The full genetic report is included with every test.
Important! Please note that the DNA cousin test is not as powerful as a DNA paternity test/parentage test and it is not as powerful as a DNA sibling test.
Usage: If the alleged parent(s) in question is/are available for testing, we highly recommend the paternity test or maternity test over the DNA cousin test. If the parents of the alleged cousins are available to take the sibling test, the sibling test would be recommended over the cousin test since the sibling test (although not as powerful as a parentage test) is more powerful than a cousin test. The cousin test should only be considered if absolutely no other test type can be taken as it is the least powerful of all of the available kinship tests. While the DNA paternity and maternity tests will always provide absolutely conclusive results, the DNA cousin test will provide a likelihood that the individuals are first cousins versus not related at all.

For example, please state: "send one of the cousin's portion to... (specify one of the cousin's name and address)" and "send the other cousin's portion to... (specify the other cousin's name and address)".
How long does the DNA Cousin Test take? Results are available in 3 to 5 business days once our laboratory receives the samples from all parties involved in the test. Once your test is complete, your results report is released to you immediately without delay
How will I receive my DNA cousin test results? You can choose to receive your DNA cousin test results by email, mail or both. If you choose the email option, you will receive your test results by email instantly once the test is completed.
