Fast, Powerful and Proven
The DNA Aunt/Uncle test determines the likelihood that an alleged aunt or uncle is the true biological aunt or uncle of a child. The full genetic report is included with every test.
Usage: In the event that an alleged father or alleged mother is not available for testing, the missing parent’s siblings can be tested against the child using the DNA Aunt/Uncle Test to determine the likelihood of biological relationship. Whenever the parent(s) in question are available for testing, the DNA paternity or maternity test is always recommended over the DNA Aunt/Uncle test. However, in situations where the alleged parents are missing or deceased, then the Aunt or Uncle can be tested to investigate the likelihood that they are the true biological aunt or uncle of a child in questions.
Benefits:
- All DNA Aunt/Uncle tests are conducted using a premium 16 to 27 genetic marker system
- State-of-the-Art Accredited testing laboratory utilizing advanced robotics and analyzers
- Useful for situations where no other relationship type can be taken
- Check the progress of your DNA cousin test online
- Results in 3 to 5 business days as soon as the samples are received
- Choose to receive your DNA cousin test results report rapidly by email and/or mail
- Discreet
- Easy and painless sample collection using buccal (mouth) swabs
Turnaround Time: DNA Aunt/Uncle Test is completed 3 to 5 business days after the samples arrive at the laboratory. Results are released immediately once the testing is completed.
Age: There are no age limitations for taking the DNA Aunt/Uncle Test. The test can be performed quickly and easily at any age, including newborns.
Description: During a DNA Aunt/Uncle Test, a buccal swab (mouth swab) specimen is collected from the aunt or uncle and the nephew or niece. The sample which is collected contains cells, and most of the cells in our body contain a full set of genetic information in the form of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). A person's DNA represents a "genetic blueprint" and like a fingerprint, is unique to each individual. At the laboratory, the DNA is extracted from the cell and specific regions of the DNA are amplified by a process known as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) for careful examination. The DNA pattern of the aunt or uncle is compared to that of the nephew or niece. A statistical analysis is performed based on the match type typically expected for true Aunt/Uncle and Nephew/Niece pairs, and a "kinship index" is obtained.
True biologically related Aunt/Uncle and Nephew/Niece pairs are typically expected to have a kinship index value that is greater than 1.0 in their DNA Aunt/Uncle Test Report. Individuals who are not biologically related are expected to have a kinship index value that is less than 1.0.
The greater the kinship index value over 1.0, the higher the likelihood that the two individuals are biologically related. Likewise, the lower the kinship index value is below 1.0, the lesser the likelihood that the two individuals are biologically related.
Can the kit be shipped to more than one address if the parties live in different cities? If the individuals to be tested live in different cities, or even different countries, we can split the kit and send each component to a different address. Since the kits are individually barcoded, the samples will still be tested together even if the are sent back separately. To order a split kit, please write the following into the comments box of the online order form: "Please split kit". Please also indicate the name, relationship and address to send each component. For example, please state: "send the Aunt's portion of the kit to... (specify one of the Aunt's name and address)" and "send the Niece's portion of the kit to... (specify the Niece's name and address)".
How long does the Aunt/Uncle Test take? Results are available in 3 to 5 business days once our laboratory receives the samples from all parties involved in the test.
How will I receive my DNA Aunt/Uncle test results? You can choose to receive your DNA Aunt/Uncle test results by email, mail or both. If you choose the email option, you will receive your test results by email instantly once the test is completed.
How do I proceed with DNA Aunt/Uncle testing? To proceed with DNA Aunt/Uncle testing, select the test option from the order list above. A private kit will be sent to you immediately for sample collection.
